Panadanza Dance Company brings you a very special master instructor, the legendary, Ivelisse Diaz!

As a singer, composer, percussionist and dancer, she has dedicated her life to sharing and educating communities about Puertorican Bomba and Plena traditions; She is excited to add Milwaukee to the list!

When: Saturday Jan. 13th, 3-5pm
Location: Delaware House, Bayview
Investment: $30 per person (pay cash or check at the door)
Bring: A flared skirt (if you have one, if not, we can lend you one)
Comfortable moving clothes, Barefeet, and water are advised.

Ivelisse Diaz' BIO:
Ivelisse “Bombera de Corazon™” Diaz was born and raised in Humboldt Park, Chicago’s Puerto Rican barrio. Ivelisse started learning Bomba at the age of 5 as a dancer for the first kid's Bomba group at Ruiz Belvis Cultural Center called "Yubitas". After several years she was able to become part of the adult Bomba group called Yuba that was established in 1989 and was the first Bomba group in Chicago. Ivelisse is a co-founding member and lead vocalist in the well-known Bomba group “Bomba con Buya” a Bomba (Afro Puerto Rican music) group based in the heart of the Puerto Rican community in Chicago. Ivelisse has been one of the pillars for the Bomba movement in Chicago. Ivelisse has traveled individually and with Buya to places like Seattle, Washington, San Francisco/Santa Ana/ San Diego/L.A California, Detroit, Tampa/Orlando Florida, Rhode Island, Puerto Rico, New York, Veracruz Mexico, and Ghana Africa to name a few. As her passion for teaching grew, Ivelisse founded her own Bomba Dance School. “La Escuelita Bombera De Corazon” that was established in 2009 providing classes to a diverse population in Chicago. Throughout 25 years of learning and continued studies Ivelisse “Bombera de Corazon™” Diaz has become a well-known vocalist and dancer in and out of Chicago’s Bomba y Plena movement.
